5 things I won't ever compromise on.....
Health- Its so simple as a concept, we only get one body so take care of it, the body is a temple. But how often do we see, do and choose to compromise on our own holy temple. Illicit Drugs, alcohol, excessive sun tanning, lack of sleep, compromising our mental health, cigarette smoking, poor food choices with high sugar and saturated fats filling our diets, expanding waist lines, sedentiary lifestyles with next to no fitness, even blasting the music and damaging our hearing. You don't get a second chance, we dig our own holes & we must lay in them. Being a Triathlete exemplifies the need to keep my body in the best holistic all round condition & my health is simply something I won't compromise on (although I feel like a chocolate bar or nice cocktail after a race is something that keeps the mental health in check)
Family- Family means the absolute world to me. I treasure my family & friends (basically family) and the relationships you have with those around you -who you love & care about are so important, you need these people in your life, to enjoy the good & the bad times! Valuable family time & friendships are something I won't compromise!
Love/ happiness- I believe we all live & work best when we are doing something that we love. Being happy I think is so important to anyone's health & mental well being, that's not to say we all don't have down days but being happy, having a smile pop onto your face, looking forward to the week ahead, and loving what you do is so important because this life is not round 1, no rehearsal, it's the real deal, so why spend too much time doing anything other than what you love & what makes you happy!
Life Morals- everyone has their own morals, values & beliefs from which they make their choices and guide themselves through descisons and life choices. The “Why” behind what drives us in our pursuits. It's different for everyone, but my “why”, my core values & ideals are something I feel strongly about, it's why I jump out of bed in the morning & go to bed excited about what's ahead. It makes me who I am, and this is not something I'm about to compromise on!
Training sessions- lastly & more “work” related, as an athlete I won't compromise myself and my development and improvement by settling for anything but the best from myself in training sessions, I won't miss sessions unless it's warranted & even then when I'm sick I'm hard to turn away from training, if I miss a session, I will make it up. It's my job, I want to be the best, so I won't compromise on the work that's going to get me there! Translated to other areas in life easily, nursing I wouldn't skip or rush the care a patient needs, I'm driven by a desire to do the best job I can & I don't compromise on this.
